ABOUT

A semester of storytelling

The content of this web site has been produced by graduating students from the Journalism & Communications Studies program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

The class — Advanced Storytelling, taught by Mark Hamilton — was designed as a capstone course. It allows students to practise the full range of the skills they have learned over three-and-a-half years, while producing focused journalism.

The Downtown Eastside was chosen for this project because of the range of storytelling opportunities, and because it gave students the chance to go beyond the usual stories about the DTES.
